New Headteacher for Cuckoo Hall

I am delighted to be able to tell you that Nicky Ross, currently the Headteacher of Hazelwood Infant and Junior Schools in Palmers Green, has been appointed as the permanent Headteacher of Cuckoo Hall Academy from September 2018.

We are extremely pleased to have attracted such an outstanding candidate with a proven track record of success to take over the leadership of the school.

Nicky has over 20 years’ experience of leading, transforming and improving challenging and culturally diverse primary schools.  During her time at Hazelwood, she took the two large schools under her charge from ‘Requires Improvement’ to a ‘Good’ rating from Ofsted in July 2014, and then onto an ‘Outstanding’ inspection from the Local Authority earlier this year.

Previously Deputy Headteacher at Chase Side Primary School, Nicky has also held senior positions at The Woodside School and Highlands Primary School in Ilford.

Nicky said: “I am thrilled to be joining Cuckoo Hall.

“My aim is to build a truly inspirational school in the years ahead, with outstanding teaching and learning at its core, where all children can thrive and succeed. I believe every child should have the best possible start in life and that it is crucial that we build strong relationships with our families.

“Together I am confident that we can take Cuckoo Hall on a journey to becoming an outstanding school.”

I am pleased that they have also both agreed to support Nicky as long as required to ensure good succession and continuity for the school.
