Cuckoo Hall commemorates 100 year WW1 anniversary

Remembrance Day

On the 11th of November every year is a memorial day to remember the fallen soldiers in the armed forces. This year marks 100 years since the end of WW1. It formally ended “at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month”, in accordance with the armistice that was signed.

We had an insightful assembly all about Remembrance Day explaining what it is and then discussed it in class. The Year 3s then decided they wanted to make their own poppies. These were then placed on the gates outside to create a beautiful memorial gate for all to see.

Mr. Parker said “It’s important that our children learn about the sacrifices made during the war. We are proud of our class’s commemorative poppy wall to mark the 100 year anniversary of the end of WW1.”
