Year 4 take The Polar Express

The Polar Express

As a part of their curriculum Year 4 are reading and studying The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg.

The book tells of the dramatic story of a young boy who is awakened on Christmas Eve by the sound of a train waiting for him.

The train was called Polar Express, journeying to the North Pole filled with children in their pyjamas.

The book was then adapted as an Oscar-nominated motion-capture film in 2004 starring Tom Hanks (in 6 district roles).

The excited children were in their pyjamas, whilst drinking hot chocolate, and had golden tickets just like the children in the book in order to inspire them for their half term topic.

Rest of the term

Year 4 will also be studying the polar environment, the landscapes and weather, as well as the wildlife of the region.
