Stunning Cuckoo performance wins Glee competition

A spectacular performance by Cuckoo Hall meant there was only going to be one winner at the Edmonton Glee competition today.

The Cuckoo Hall team danced their way to the silver trophy with a routine that was loudly cheered and judged the best of the competition.

Flo Shamolli, Deputy Headteacher said: "I’m incredibly proud of our Glee Champions. I had the pleasure of watching them in rehearsals on Friday and I hear today’s performance was even better! A huge well done to our superstars. Thank you to Ms Stella Sofoclous and Jordan Coulson from Pineapple Studios coordinating such a wonderful performance."

Rosanna Ojosipe, Deputy Headteacher said: "The children's performance was voted the most popular audience choice. They literally had the whole of  Hackney Empire  on their feet. The judges were amazed at all of their individual talents as well as how they performed as a group."

"Jesse our superstar stole the show, with his sophisticated and  smooth dance skills. The children coming first place out of 19 schools within the borough is an accolade and testimony to the commitment and passion from our students and teachers. A huge thanky ou to Chrystalla Sofocleous for leading the group and supporting them through every rehearsal. She is a true credit to our school. Our Glee dance instructor Jordan Coulson and all of our CHA parent's who have not only supported their children but also our school in making this day possible."

Another amazing accolade today was that Jesse Opoku (Year 1), also won the 'dance off' battle challenge round against children of all ages (between 5yr and 15yrs old) and has been given the chance to attend pineapple studios for a term. We are so proud of him and all of our performers they are truly a credit to our school.

Well done again team Cuckoo!...keep on shining.

Glee

The Glee project, based on the popular TV series, gives local children the opportunity to take part in Glee clubs where they are able to showcase and develop their singing and dancing talents.  The fully inclusive clubs, run by inspirational tutors from Pineapple Performing Arts School (PPAS), focus on fun and raising aspirations.  There is also a competitive element where all Glee clubs are brought together at the end of the project to perform at a prestigious London theatre in a live show in front of a panel of judges.  Families of performers are invited to cheer them on and a range of prizes are awarded including PPAS scholarships, trophies and certificates.
